I designed and created a Spring/Summer series for a runway show, inThread’s Perforations. My series was inspired by sleepwear and undergarment typologies through fabrics from grandmother, found/donated objects, and my ceramics buttons. I want to put prints and textiles found in domestic and intimate settings in conversation with construction methods and hardwares associated with gorpcore trends and uniforms. I enjoy playing with dualities of public vs private and exposure vs enclosure through balancing tailored sections and adjustability to fit a range of sizes.
My friends are my models. The intimacy and community of the materials used to construct this series is regenerated through the making and runway process with models. I value the community and care created in this series as well as their showcasing in the runway. The context where these garments exist in is where my communities gather in our daily interactions.
