Tenure on Two Sides is a film about the tenure system and course evaluation within the context of Rice Architecture. As a student in Rice Architecture, I have always been curious about the tenure system and what it means. During my years here, I have heard a unanimous generalization about this system as well as how unsure we were about how our feedback affects this process. In interviewing professors who are tenured or going to be tenure, previous staff, and my peers, I would like to not only uncover the process that professors go through to be tenured but also how students are impacted by the tenure system. I also believe situating this topic within the context of Rice Architecture is very special and close to me because professors here are teaching and practicing at the same time while engaging in a close relationship with their students.
