The title, 望女成龙 directly translates to “hoping your daughter to become a dragon” its an idiom that represents my mother’s expectation for me, hoping that I can become the best. The traditional Chinese roof tiles also enforces that idea of expectation and overprotection. The height of the roof is 3ft, showing how she still sees me as a child. The abstract animation projected on the shingles narrates my perception of her goals for me and how I have discovered her true intentions after achieving them. The traditional Chinese elements in the roof (forbidden city) and in the beginning of animation (many of the beginnings of Chinese movies) alludes to how the Chinese culture that my mother was brought up in continues in my generation.
